Terelj National Park is a great place to visit if you are only here briefly. After only a short ride from Ulaanbaatar, you will already find yourself enjoying our natural scenery – the open fields, the gorgeous mountains, and more. On this tour we’ll take you for a ride on a horse, you’ll meet a nomadic family, and you’ll visit the tallest equestrian statue in the world. We pack a lot into this short trip so that you experience our lifestyle: maybe it will make you want to come back again!
Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue
We will pick you up from your accommodation and drive to the Chinggis Khan statue. The Chinggis Khaan statue complex is a 40-meter tall statue of Chinggis Khaan on horseback, on the banks of the Tuul river at Tsonjin Boldog 54 kilometers east of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. According to legend, he found his golden whip here. The statue is symbolically pointed east towards his birthplace. It is on top of the Statue Complex, a visitor center, itself 10 meters tall with 36 columns representing the 36 Khaans from Chinggis to Ligden Khaan. It was built in 2006. We will provide lunch and then drive to Terelj National Park. Overnight in a ger.
Terelj National Park and horse riding
After having breakfast, we will enjoy horse riding to the Aryabal meditation and some short hiking. The Park’s most spectacular features are its huge granite blocks and cliffs as well as meadows rich in wild flowers. Terelj offers fascinating rock formations against a background of pine covered mountains. The average elevation is about 1600 metres with peaks reaching 2900 metres. Back to UB in the evening.
